Hi! I'm one of the lucky people who got a Wii at midnight last night. Well I did pre-order it
Anyway, if you have any problems connecting your Wii up to the internet using your Orange Livebox then follow the instructions I've just written up at my site:
Out of interest did you try it with the firewall on default or WEP and WPA security at all or were they just how it was already set before you tried connecting the Wii?
Hi, no I haven't tried it with 'firewall on' or the 'WPA & WEP' security option because I had to disable them to get my Nintendo DS to work. So it may work with them. I just thought I'd document a solution that was guaranteed to work. Oh and I wanted to spend more time playing my Wii of course
Theoretically if the WPA & WEP option really means 'OR' in the logical sense then you could probably have both on. I appreciate all discussion of this on the comments section of my post and if I'm told other solutions I'll edit them into the post.
Hey. Thanks a lot! It's updating now. I didn't need to redo any of my connection settings. All I did was press the black button on the livebox and it worked like a charme.
I had sort of the same idea and had unplugged and replugged the livebox, but I guess that doesn't do the same things as resetting via the back button.
Hi, Followed your steps but havent had any luck... i tried to make it WEP only, but it just cut off all connections and i had to reset the box..
So i left the settings on WEP or the other one, and tried to connect, but id didnt work, and came up with an error code when i tested the connection.. I have repeated this step about 5 times with no luck.. any ideas?
Because the Wii doesn't view the wireless networks more forthright like a computerwould, it will be a little time consuming to try, but see if it is the channel number settings restricting the connection(make a note of which channel number it is at the present moment so you can revert back t oit later if needs be). But of course you will need to make sure that already connected devices are willing to work and connect aswell once you've establishe anything.

Using a PC connected to the livebox, prefrably on a wired connection:
Open 192.168.1.1 in internet explorer,
Click the link,
Put the username and password in as "admin" for both,
Click Security and then Wireless Connection below it,
Change the channel number and submit,
Once the sucessful page goes wait a minute and try getting the wireless to connect again.
It's best to try channels at random than going in order, also if using a wireless connection to change it be aware there's the possibility of getting a channel where you cannot connect at all. This is why wired is recommended for this.
