I am having problems with an old freeserve account that Orange now own. The email works fine and I need to keep this as it is used as my main POP3 account however, I also have web space with this account that is several years old and customers are complaining due to out of date website content including shopping cart information hence I need to change this. These are old sites that can still be found when searching in Google etc. My problem is that the FTP details I need have changed and no longer work (ever since Orange bought the data), the information Orange customer services dept repeatedly send me is not the required information even though I have told them exactly what I require.
In fact customer services and Tech support at Orange just send my emails back and forth with no resolution. This has been going on for years! What they don’t understand is that the webspace is still there and live so THERE HAS to be someone with ownership! Web servers do not live in space by there own. Freeserve were originally run by BT I think so I am also trying them but I feel Orange has a commitment as they bought the Freeserve customers.
The only other option I can think of is to ask Trading Standards to contact them? Has anyone got a resolution other than deleting the account?
There must be thousands of similar old websites out there?
