So why am I posting?
'cos as an existing customer on the 2Mb / 2GB tariff I don't seem to qualify for a free laptop
I'll sign up for 2 years sure, now give me my £300 laptop voucher, or will they make me go through the arse-ache of leaving them and re-joining? If anything's going to make me sniff out a new ISP, even though Orange works fine for me, it's being taken for granted
I went through the signup process about 10 days ago. On Tuesday I found I had lost existing ISP connectivity. Luckily I kept a record of what the new Orange settings were and got my router back up & running. I rang a help droid at Orange about when I was going to get a letter. He said after activation, scheduled for Friday 3rd. Well I had news for him I already had the connection working;)
Anyway, I await further mail from Orange so I can go & get the laptop. FYI the laptops if available are reserved on the day of signup and taken off the shelf.
I belive that CarPhoneWarehouse are doing a similar deal with AOL, so I guess Orange customers will end up migrating to AOL and AOL to Orange. Ha Ha!
I am in the same situation as you. Signed up with Orange on 23/07/07 and was active on 31/07/07. I rang up Orange to tell them the order was complete and to send me my letter for my laptop and the women checked with BTW to confirm, she then said the system will update itself within 24hrs and I should receive my letter before the weekend.

I seem to remember that when I first got Broadband, I was on a Freeserve/Wanadoo dial-up and so I signed up originally for Broadband with Wanadoo. ( I still keep the old Freeserve address current )
Anyway I discovered that the connections then were made nearly a week before the administration people at Wanadoo wrote to tell me it was activated.
Nothing much changes.
I moved to Demon Internet about 18 months ago as I needed an uncapped account but at a reasonable price (I'm not into file sharing etc. but I do download a fair amount of Linux software and a DVD or 2 is way above 2GB).
As prices have come down, the laptop offer was probably too good to miss out on and so I've come back and surprisingly the download speeds have gone up a little bit since I left Demon . Also the mail server works during the day on the first attempt which was one big gripe of mine about Demon.
Well it is now the 6th of August and I have not received anything other than the Livebox (on the 1st of August). I rang Orange and the lady I spoke to checked everything and it appears that somehow, although my Broadband is working their system has not updated itself to show my account as active. Hence NO LETTER, NO LIVEBOX ACTIVATION etc. She said a form she was putting in should sort things out in 3-5 days but it does make a nonsense of the 10 working days promised on the PC World sign up blurb.
OH well TANSTAAFL applies I suppose. At least the Broadband works, it appears that the connection is slightly quicker than my previous Demon connection and the mail server works better during the day than Demon's which always seemed to fall over between 9am and 5pm
That is a dedicated number for the PC World offer, which over the weekend the above number said everyone should have received the voucher by today (i got mine today)

I have rung the above number and apparently the account has not yet been activated so I have asked the man if he can give something a prod so I can get my voucher. It's funny that the connection has worked since last Tuesday!
Another 3 to 5 days to wait for their ****** system to update itself.
My connection did not go live till last tuesday and i did not get an email from Orange about my acount being activated till Friday night just gone, yet I still got my letter today and it was dated Friday.

Well I guess from how everything is going, there is a paperwork SNAFU at Orange, but at least it wont cost me any more to sort out getting the laptop voucher. I was not aware of the 0800 and had been ringing an 0870 at Orange
From your reply above, I may very well get the letter in the next day or so. I'll know when someone has sorted out Orange's SNAFU as the option to activate the Livebox should appear in the Member Centre. That's my other gripe
From what I've heard it's actually a problem with the completion of provisioning details coming through from BT. If it's still the same in a few days time I'd say ask them to check with SPT and escalate it if possible to get things going.

Hi. I had come to the conclusion that this was the most likely explanation for the delay.The lady I spoke to at Orange, yesterday afternoon, mentioned that she was sending a form to SPT, so I guess things are being escalated. I'll see what happens in the next few days.
My account was active last Friday 3rd. I spoke to someone at Orange who said i should get my letter in 3 - 5 working days.
Is this about the same time frame as everyone is experiencing?
we having the same problem, just phoned th 0800 no and they have re-sent the letter. (sent 1st time on fri) 3rd and signed up on the 19th.
He recons the first should be here tomorro, can u update if yours is as well
I was contacted my Orange last night asking if everything was ok with my broadband ! ! I told them I dont know........... as i havent got my laptop yet ! !
I was told I should have my letter no later than Friday
